India Renewables Dashboard
India is making great strides in its energy transition. With more than 90GW of installed Renewable Energy (RE) capacity - primarily solar & wind, RE’s share in India’s electricity mix is also on an upswing. In this context, data will play a critical role in further accelerating the pace of RE project deployment, infrastructure planning, and efficient forecasting of power generation. Accessibility of data, hence, becomes crucial to drive the hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of investment flows required to meet India’s target of 450GW of installed RE capacity by 2030.
While detailed operational information is tracked and made publicly available for non-RE projects, similar data is not available for RE projects. Thus, a clear need was felt to expand the scope of data coverage and enable policymakers, industry, and the wider public to track the progress of India's renewable energy sector. It is in this context that India Renewables Dashboard was conceived and developed. The dashboard is a joint effort between the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), CEEW Centre for Energy Finance and Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation (SSEF). Access to the dashboard is being made freely available to all stakeholders.
